POC Overview
This Proof of Concept (POC) will demonstrate a centralized Linux patch management solution for Ubuntu 24.04 virtual machines.The POC will use Semaphore and Ansible to manage and execute Linux patching activities, with an internal APT repository providing a controlled source of Ubuntu packages.
The purpose of the POC is to demonstrate the complete working process of Linux patch management, including package availability, patch selection, patch deployment, reboot handling, and post-patching validation.The environment will be deployed within a private VNet to demonstrate secure communication between the patch management components and the Linux servers.
Objective
The primary objective of this POC is to demonstrate how Linux patching can be centrally managed using Semaphore and Ansible, with Ubuntu packages provided through an internal APT repository.
The POC will demonstrate:
- Centralised Linux patch management through Semaphore.
- Ansible-based execution of patching tasks.
- Ubuntu 24.04 servers using an internal APT repository.
- Identification and installation of available Linux updates.
- Controlled reboot handling when required.
- Pre-patching and post-patching validation.
- Visibility of patching activities through Semaphore.
- Consistent patching procedures across multiple Ubuntu servers.
